Plantar Fasciitis
One of the most common and yet most preventable foot conditions active people experience.
The plantar fascia ligament runs along the bottom of your foot, attaching at the heel bone and extending to the forefoot.
The repetitive overextension of this very important ligament causes inflammation that leads to pain often found in the heel or arch area of the foot.
There are many factors that contribute to this painful foot condition but the most common causes we find are:
- Improper Footwear
- Lack of Arch Support
- High Level of Activity
The good news is that successful treatment and prevention of Plantar Fasciitis can often be achieved with:
- A strong broad based pair of shoes (should be your primary pair of shoes)
- An arch support (over the counter, hand- made, or custom made) that supports and cushions the foot
- A regular stretching routine
The above are all are keys to a healthy, pain free foot.
