Hammer Toes and Foot Deformities

Hammer Toes are often dropped metatarsal bones causing the affected toe to draw back, resulting in a painful rub creating a callous or corn.

Foot Deformities are any abnormal foot shape that cause painful rubbing and excessive pressure when wearing footwear.

Common causes of these painful foot conditions are:

  • Ill Fitting Footwear
  • Foot Injury
  • Arthritis
  • Lack of Arch Support
  • Congenital Foot Ailment
  • Inherit
  • It is extremely important that you determine what is causing the painful foot condition. In general, a proper fitting, extra depth shoe, cushioned arch support (over the counter, hand-made or custom orthotic) are necessary in treating these conditions. Often, extra stretching and or adjusting the upper portion of the footwear is beneficial in reducing rub pressures. Extreme cases can require custom made footwear to accommodate the deformity.
